But I'm trying to look on the bright side and live where the grass is already green, so let me tell you the awesome things about NOT trying to conceive:
- Brownie Batter! Raw eggs are a big "no, no" while pregnant, and while trying to conceive I adopted the same principle. But let me tell you, brownie batter was my greatest craving. I forbid that brownies even be made in my presence... it's just too great of a temptation! So what was my first purchase this month? Two boxes of brownie mix, and I've already consumed both! I was good and actually did bake some brownies, but oh, how I was tempted to sit down with the whole bowl!
- Caffeine! Oh, oh how I missed you! At first, I'll be honest, I was consuming a bit of caffeine even while trying to conceive, but after the miscarriage, which came two days after drinking Starbucks, I called it quits entirely. Ughhhh! When you have the most boring, repetitive, tedious job and all you can do is sit in your chair, caffeine is precious. I've been enjoying my fair share of diet coke and coffee. I know I'll have to give it up again, and maybe, someday it will be for good (I'd love to kick the diet coke addiction), but right now, I'm living the gluttonous life!
- Deli Meat: Now I'm not a huge deli sandwich fan in the first place, but tell me I can't have it, and this rebel automatically wants it. Listeria is the threat with deli meat (and hot dogs). You're not really supposed to eat it at all, but if you must, it should be heated until steaming. After nine months, a cold turkey sandwich never tasted so good.
Other surprisingly amazing things about not trying to conceive. Alcohol. Yep, this teetotaler who hadn't consumed an alcoholic beverage since the Dawgs beat Hawaii at the Sugar bowl, has now had two! Well, more like one, as I split both. But yum! I don't think there's any worry of this one being too hard to drop again, but hey, live it up while I can, right? It's also pretty awesome to not wake up on the weekends to take my temperature. And, it's excellent to not have to plan baby dancing (too much info right, but hey, it's true).
So sure, I wish I could be trying to conceive a little one of my very own, but the not trying process has been really nice as well. I actually think that this may have been the Lord's way of giving me a break. I had read about a lot of people who took a break from the whole trying to conceive process and either conceived while not "trying" or soon after starting again. I just couldn't give it up. I couldn't make the choice to delay any longer. But this break from it all has been really good for me. Not only has it restored my love of foods that I shouldn't eat anyway, but it has given me rest! The Lord knew I couldn't do it alone, so he made the decision for me. I'm just hoping that I can enjoy the next couple of months as much as I have the first one!

Wow, I had no idea you couldn't eat deli meat while preggo! Good to know!
